HIDROSTANK ACCESS CHAMBERS IN PANAMA CANAL – FINAL PHASE OF THE WORKS

Last June the expansion works of Panama Canal entered its final phase with the start of filling the new locks, both the Atlantic and Pacific sectors. The full flood and testing of each lock can take about three to four months.

HIDROSTANK has supplied to the awarded joint venture, Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC), its innovative reinforced polypropylene cable pits to the works of the PANAMA CANAL, one of the great engineering feats of the XXI century.

The expansion of the Panama Canal will increase by 40% the capacity of transit of goods of existing waterways that link the Atlantic to the Pacific and is part of the integral program to expand the Canal capacity.

HIDROSTANK has worked closely with the technicians of the awarded consortium Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC) to define the best solution for the electrical and telecommunications manholes.

This project, the first PANAMA, joins the already performed in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.
